Method
Preparation
- Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup and to allow the cookies to set without sticking.
- In separate microwave-safe bowls, melt the black and orange chocolates according to package instructions. Stir until smooth and pour into piping bags or plastic sandwich bags with a corner snipped off for easy decorating.
Dipping Cookies
- Take one Oreo cookie and dip it halfway into the melted black chocolate. Use a fork to lift it out, letting any excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
- Place the dipped Oreo on the parchment paper and allow it to set while you repeat the dipping process with the remaining cookies.
Decorating
- Before the chocolate hardens, place two googly eyes on each Oreo. Press gently so they adhere to the chocolate.
- For each spider Oreo, take three pretzel sticks and insert them into the sides of the cookie, resembling spider legs.
- Use the melted orange chocolate to drizzle over the cookies for added contrast and decorative flair.
Setting and Serving
- Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the chocolate to completely harden.
- Once set, transfer the spooky Oreo cookies to a serving platter and enjoy the haunted fun!
Notes
For variations, you can use white chocolate for a ghostly appearance or incorporate flavored extracts. Store in an airtight container for up to a week. Supervise children when working with melted chocolate and sharp utensils.
