Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet. Break it up with a spatula and cook until fully browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Season the beef mixture with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
Assembly
- In a large baking dish, spread a layer of the sliced potatoes.
- Layer half of the browned ground beef and onion mixture over the potatoes.
- Add a layer of green beans on top of the beef.
- Pour half of the cream of mushroom soup over the green beans, spreading it evenly.
- Repeat the layers: another layer of potatoes, followed by the remaining beef, the remaining green beans, and finally the rest of the soup.
Baking
- Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for 1 hour.
- After an hour, remove the foil and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Bake uncovered for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the potatoes are fork-tender.
- Once done, let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months. Feel free to add other vegetables, such as bell peppers or corn, for extra flavor and nutrition. Add a dash of hot sauce or cayenne pepper for a spicy kick.
