Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey for a leaner option)
  • 2-3 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1-2 carrots, sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced (any color works)
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1-2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil (or melted butter)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (or your choice of herbs)
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • Aluminum foil (heavy-duty recommended)

Method

Preparation
  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Begin by washing, peeling, and slicing your vegetables: potatoes, carrots, bell pepper, and onion.
  2. Mix the Meat: In a bowl, combine the ground beef (or turkey) with Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Create Foil Packs: Cut large squares of aluminum foil (about 12×18 inches). Lay the foil flat and spray with a little cooking spray (optional).
  4. Assemble the Packets: Place a serving of the meat mixture in the center of each foil square. Top with sliced potatoes, carrots, bell pepper, and onion.
  5. Add Oil: Drizzle olive oil (or melted butter) over the vegetables for added flavor.
  6. Seal the Packets: Fold the sides of the foil over the filling to create a sealed packet.
Cooking
  1. Cook the Packets: Preheat your grill to medium heat or set up a campfire. Place the packets on the grill or over the fire.
  2. Cook for about 20-30 minutes, flipping halfway through. Check for doneness by opening a packet.
  3. Serve: Let them cool for a minute before carefully opening. Serve straight from the foil or transfer to plates.

Notes

Customize your protein and veggies. Make ahead by preparing packets the night before. Can also be cooked in the oven at 400°F for 30-40 minutes.
