Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In another bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, until fully incorporated.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined to avoid overmixing.
- Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- If using Halloween-themed candies, fold them in at this point.
- Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving enough space between each cookie.
- Sprinkle some orange and black sprinkles on top of each cookie for decoration if desired.
Baking
- Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the cookies are golden brown around the edges but still soft in the center.
- Cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Serving
- Serve your Halloween Chocolate Chip Cookies at room temperature, ideal for Halloween parties or trick-or-treaters.
Notes
Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before scooping to prevent spreading and result in thicker cookies. Experiment with adding spices like cinnamon or nutmeg for enhanced flavor. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
