Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef (or ground turkey) Using 80% lean meat for balance of flavor and moisture.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian-style)
  • 2/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (or 2 tablespoons dried parsley)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 cup ketchup (for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional) Add for extra flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients except the ketchup and Worcestershire sauce.
  3. Mix the ingredients thoroughly using your hands or a wooden spoon, avoiding overmixing.
  4. Transfer the mixture into a loaf pan or shape it into a loaf on a lined baking sheet.
  5. Spread the ketchup evenly on top of the meatloaf. If using Worcestershire sauce, mix it with the ketchup before applying.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  7. Remove from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
  8. Slice and serve hot, possibly garnished with extra Parmesan cheese.

Notes

Use high-quality meat for better flavor. Avoid overmixing to maintain texture. Experiment with toppings such as barbecue sauce or sweet chili sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
