For the Filling
  • 1 pound ground beef Opt for lean ground beef to reduce fat content.
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn) Feel free to substitute with your favorites.
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • to taste Salt and pepper
For the Biscuit Topping
  • 2 cups biscuit mix
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet, sautéing until the onion becomes translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the frozen mixed vegetables, cream of mushroom soup, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to combine all flavors.
  5. Pour the meat mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  6. In a bowl, combine the biscuit mix, cheddar cheese, milk, melted butter, garlic powder, and dried parsley until a dough forms.
  7. Spoon the biscuit mixture over the beef filling, spreading it out to cover as much surface area as possible.
  8. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuit topping is golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Once out of the oven, let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

To store leftovers, put them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, warm in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until heated through or microwave for quick servings.
