Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing until fully incorporated before adding the next. Then, mix in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt until evenly mixed. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips until they are evenly distributed throughout the cookie dough.
- Using a cookie scoop or spoon, drop heaping tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them out as they will spread.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are slightly golden and the centers look a bit soft.
- Allow them to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Decorating
- Once the cookies are fully cooled, spread a generous layer of green frosting over the top of each cookie.
- Sprinkle edible black glitter on top of the frosting for a magical touch.
- Place candy eyeballs on top of the frosting for character and fun, and add gummy candies around the cookie for additional decoration.
- Allow the cookies to set for about 15-20 minutes before serving so the icing firms up a bit.
Notes
To keep your cauldron cookies fresh, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for about 4-5 days. For longer storage, freeze undecorated cookies in layers with parchment paper separating them.
