Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey or chicken.
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce Choose your favorite brand.
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Can substitute with pepper jack or mozzarella.
  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts 1-2 sheets.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray or oil for greasing the muffin tin

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C) and grease a muffin tin with cooking spray or oil.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in the chopped onion, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the onions are tender.
  4. Pour in the barbecue sauce, mixing thoroughly with the beef. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes to meld the flavors.
  5. Roll out the pie crusts on a clean surface. Using a round cutter or glass, cut out circles that are about 4 inches in diameter.
  6. Place each circle of dough into a muffin tin cup, pressing down gently to fit the shape. Fill each crust with the barbecue beef mixture until nearly full.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top of the beef mixture in each cup.
  8. Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
  9. Once baked, allow the cups to cool for a few minutes in the tin before removing them. Serve warm for the best taste.

Notes

Tips: For added flavor, consider alternative meats or mixing barbecue sauces. These cups can be assembled a day in advance and stored in the fridge.
